Hi, my name is Joonsik.
I am using Lepton3,breakout v1.4 with Raspberry Pi3.
I followed instruction ‘https://lepton.flir.com/getting-started/lepton-quick-start-raspberry-pi/’ and had a success capturing image using pylepton_capture function.
However, when I run compiled raspberrypi_video, I could see a screen skipping pixels (uniform patterns in horizontal line). I wonder where does this problem come. The screen seems to be updated with random timing. I can see this kind of script in terminal window.

How can I get clear continuous image?
Now, I see freeze image when it is not reset.
Thank you in advance for your help.Joonsik
ParticipantHi Joonsik, are you using the repo linked here: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/flir-lepton-hookup-guide
I have the same exact problem using a Lepton 3, same breakout version, on a Pi3. I believe the sparkfun guide links to a distribution that is intended for Lepton 2 use, but I’m not quite sure yet. Still investigating on my end, and exploring other repos.
ParticipantHello Joonsik and Mitchel,
We are looking into this now.
We will respond as soon as we have some information for you.
Thank you,
Dominique StraussParticipantAdditionally, you might want to try this if you are using a Lepton3.

Thank you,
Dominique StraussParticipantHi Mitchel and Dom,
thank you very much for your help.
I tried with Lepton3 version, but it also does not working.
I have red box on the left top and it did not go away even though I unplugged module and put it back.
Could it be my camera or lepton breakout board problem?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you again for your help.
JoonsikParticipantHi Joonsik,
If you got to the jittery raspberrypi_video, then I assume you figured out that the correct pin for the CS line is 24 as opposed to 26. That fix got me past the red box earlier. Perhaps the new distro swapped one of the communication pins on the Pi?
Cheers,
-MitchParticipantThank you Mitchel,
I tried with pin number 24 for CS but I still have red box…
Struggle!!! Haha, but I hope this problem would be resolved soon…
Do you still have vertical skipping lines in the screen?
and Do you know weather we could make a video (not a still shot) with lepton3?
Thank you very much for your help.Joonsik
ParticipantHello Guys,
I am trying the same for my lepton-2 interface with Raspberry-pi, but facing some errors…I am following this link…
https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/flir-lepton-hookup-guide; please referAccessing Raspberry pi 3 through SSH (putty terminal)….
Also, I tried like..
~xhost + local: root
~xhost + localhost
~sudo ./raspberrypi_video…. this shows no output/display windowPlease help me to process this…Thanks a lot.

/AshParticipantHi,
Just started using a lepton 3.5 with a raspberry pi 3, using the Lepton-3-Module. But when I try to run video a blank red screen was shown.
My Lepton is connected via micro-usb.
Any ideas,
Cheers. -
