Happy new year, Lepton Makers!

2018 got off to a fast start with our announcement at CES of the new Thermal by FLIR partner program, a cooperative product development and marketing program that supports product innovators who use FLIR thermal imaging sensors in their products. Partners get specialized support from a variety of FLIR teams, including product development with experienced applications engineers, marketing, and technical sales support.

The first four partners and their Lepton-based products are Arsenz ThermoGlass, Casio EX-FR10, Panasonic Thermal Sensor, and Tinkerforge Thermal Imaging Bricklet.  Are you next?  Learn more and sign up here!

Making it easier to integrate with Lepton is a top priority for us in 2018, and I think the new Lepton-based Tinkerforge Thermal Imaging Bricklet is a big step in that direction.  Tinkerforge is an affordable system of building blocks that will drastically simplify the implementation of your project. The building block system currently consists of over 80 different modules and is still growing.

Each module is pluggable and can be controlled together with other modules by USB, Ethernet or WIFI from a PC, Raspberry Pi, tablet or smartphone. For each module an intuative API is available for many programming languages including C/C++, C#, Delphi/Lazarus, Java, JavaScript, LabVIEW, Mathematica, MATLAB/Octave, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Shell, and Visual Basic .NET.

I know many of you can Make with thermal from the ground up, but with the Bricklet’s high degree of abstraction the actual purpose of the project comes into focus while the technical implementation becomes a side issue.  Check it out here.

I’ll close with a quick heads up that a major update is in the works for the Maker site.  We’re working on some great new content and enhanced development tools, and we’re refreshing the Lepton community showcase to show off the latest and greatest Makes by people just like you.  Have an awesome Lepton-based Make you’d like to put in the spotlight?  Submit it today for possible inclusion in the Lepton Maker community showcase.

Happy developing!
