Hey Lepton Makers,

FLIR is pleased to announce today the launch of Lepton 3.5, a new member of the Lepton family that adds both radiometry and an enhanced scene dynamic range.  The addition of radiometry and a temp range from -10 to 400° means your makes can accurately read temperatures in a much wider range of applications.  Ready to jump in and buy one?  Get it here!

I know many of you like a good challenge – especially with a shot at winning cool prizes – so I’m also excited to announce the Thermal by FLIR maker challenge!  To win you just have to make something cool, useful, and/or unique using Lepton 3.5 and the new PureThermal2 board with Thermal by FLIR from GroupGets.  What can you win?  How about an expenses-paid trip to Santa Barbara to present your project to the FLIR Lepton team AND a $500 gift certificate to pick up cool gear from the GroupGets store?  Sounds awesome, right?!  Here’s how it’ll go down:

  1. Submit your product ideas here between March 27th and April 30th, 2018
  2. We’ll announce the finalists (top 5 ideas) and send them a free Lepton 3.5 and PureThermal2 board with Thermal by FLIR by May 4th
  3. Finalists submit their prototypes to us and upload their code to Github by June 18th
  4. We’ll announce and promote the grand prize winner and runners up on June 29th.

Eligibility and contest rules are available here. Good luck!

A few weeks ago, the FLIR booth at Mobile World Congress was quite the hot spot, showcasing the first five Thermal by FLIR partners and their Lepton-based products.  The Cat S61, Arsenz ThermoGlass, Casio EX-FR10, Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 Thermal Imaging Solution, and Tinkerforge Thermal Imaging Bricklet products all got a lot of attention. Is your product next?  Learn more and sign up here!

Just a reminder that we’re refreshing the Lepton community showcase to show off the latest and greatest Makes by people just like you.  Have an awesome Lepton-based Make you’d like to put in the spotlight?  Submit it today for possible inclusion in the Lepton Maker community showcase.

Happy Making!
